Choosing your options

Drive. The panels are handed for left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive cars; choose the side that matches yours.

Finish. Gloss or Matte is the look you prefer. Both carry our standard finish, a 2K clear coat with UV absorbers over a heat-resistant outer layer, because the engine bay runs hotter than anywhere outside the car and heat is what makes a clear coat yellow over time. For the large majority of owners that is the right choice. On Gloss you can also add our Full Thermal Clear Coat, where the heat-resistant formulation runs through every layer rather than the outer one alone, the most durable finish we offer for the bay. It costs more and is a deliberate choice for owners who want the longest life. The standard finish is not a lesser one.

The CarbonXtreme Carbon Fiber Engine Bay Corner Panels replace the factory plastic panels at the rear corners of the BMW G80 M3, G82 M4, and G87 M2 engine bay, the cowl area between the strut towers and the windscreen. The plastic comes out and a finished, clear-coated carbon pair goes in. Two panels in total.

BMW finishes this area in plastic and offers no carbon version of it. The only carbon BMW puts in the engine bay is the engine cover; the rest, these corners included, stays plastic unless you change it yourself. A carbon bay is built one piece at a time.

On their own they bring the rear corners of the bay into carbon, an area most people overlook until it is the only plastic left. The full effect comes when the panels around them are carbon too. Construction: Genuine dry carbon, made from prepreg carbon fiber and cured under pressure in an autoclave, the way OEM and motorsport parts are made, not the hand-laid wet carbon that gives itself away up close. The pressure drives the air from the layup, so the weave stays even and the panels stay light and true. The few fine surface pinholes any weave can leave are filled before the clear coat goes on, far fewer than a hand-laid part needs. These panels do nothing for power; they finish a corner of the bay that BMW left in plastic and most owners forget. That is the point, and for the right owner it is enough. This is an upgrade you feel rather than measure, the choice to take the carbon all the way into the corners rather than stop where it is easy. You can do without it. You cannot be without it.
