VW Golf R32 Carbon Fiber Bucket Seats

A heritage build for the Golf R32. The MK5 R32 came to the United States for a single model year, 2008, as a two-door VR6 icon — and its owners keep them. This is a complete pair of carbon fiber bucket seats built on a brand-new genuine VW OEM folding seat frame for the R32's two-door layout, upholstered to your specification.

Built around the R32's two-door frame

The R32's front seats fold forward for rear access, so this build uses a brand-new genuine VW OEM folding seat frame that preserves that motion. Each seat is delivered fully assembled: structural frame, folding mechanism, bottom slider, headrest, and complete seat body. No upholstery rework is required. The seats mount to the factory points with a handful of bolts; the remainder of the work is transferring a small set of electrical modules from your original seats.

No special qualification is required for the install. A careful owner working from the list below can complete it; an experienced trimmer will simply be faster. Depending on your car's option level, the full job runs from about half an hour to two or three hours.

Before You Order

• MK5 R32 (2008). Fully supported. Enter your model and year in the fields below the price.
• MK4 R32 (2004). The earlier MK4 uses an older seat platform. Contact customer service with a photo of your seats before ordering and we will confirm what is possible.
• Upload a photo of your current seat. Use the seat photo upload below to send us one complete photo of your current front seat. We confirm final fitment from your photo before production begins. This is the Fitment Before Hype approach: if we are not sure how a part fits your car, we pause and email you.
• Power fold switch. If your seat has a powered fold or easy-entry switch, it is retained and concealed inside the new seat rather than removed, so no fault codes are triggered.

None of the work is difficult, but plan for the electrical transfer when you book your installer.

Understanding Your Configuration

Your seats are configured through three variant selections (Upholstery Material, Backshell Finish, Heating and Ventilation) and several preference fields below the price. This section walks through each option.

1. Upholstery Material

Four material tiers, low to high. All tiers use the same bucket pattern and the same construction process.

• Premium Microfiber Suede / Microfiber Nappa-Grain Leather (Animal-Free), base. Full animal-free build for owners who want the look and feel without leather. The most accessible starting point.
• Premium Nappa Leather / Italian Alcantara (additional cost). Full-grain Nappa paired with authentic Italian Alcantara brand microfiber suede, produced in Terni, Italy by Alcantara S.p.A. The same material specified in Porsche, Lamborghini, and BMW M factory programs.
• Full-Grain Merino Leather (additional cost). Flagship-grade fine-grain leather, the same grade specified in BMW M flagship bucket seat programs.
• German OEM-Sourced Dinamica (Made in Italy) (additional cost). Genuine Dinamica microfiber suede sourced through the German OEM supply chain. Stock is not guaranteed and lead time can be significantly longer. Contact customer service before ordering to confirm availability.

2. Backshell Finish

What this controls: the visible hard shell on the back of the seat, seen by rear passengers and through the windows.

• ABS shell (base and hydrographic options). Matte black as standard, with carbon fiber and forged carbon hydrographic finishes available. The most accessible shell option.
• Hand-Laid Carbon Fiber (additional cost). Real carbon fiber cloth, hand-laid in multiple layers, cured, and finished with a Glasurit clear lacquer coat. Matte, Gloss, Forged, White Crosshatch, and RR-Style patterns available.
• Pre-Preg Autoclave-Cured Carbon Fiber (additional cost). Pre-impregnated carbon fiber, autoclave-cured, also known as dry carbon. The same construction method used in OEM carbon parts and motorsport composite components. Lightest weight, deepest weave clarity.

3. Heating and Ventilation

What this controls: which factory electronic functions your new seats support. Your vehicle must already have the factory Heating or Ventilation modules wired for these functions to carry over. We supply hardware only; all coding and local compliance is your installer's responsibility.

What Transfers From Your Original Seats

The seats themselves mount quickly. The part most owners underestimate is the electrical transfer. It comes down to four connectors:

Sensor connector. Every car. The full harness together with the modules on it, the seat belt receptacle, occupancy sensor and crash sensor, moves from your original seat to the new one as a single assembly. The passenger side may carry two to four more wires than the driver side.

Heating connector. Usually plug in and go. Volkswagen seat connector versions vary from car to car at random, so occasionally the housing colors differ and the wires do not line up. In most cases the connector simply plugs in and works. In a small number of cases, the wires move into your original heating connector, re-seated in the matching order.

Ventilation connector. Three wires left for your car. We leave three wires unconnected on purpose. Your installer seats them to match your car's ventilation layout. If we pre-connected them, version differences would make any fault far harder to trace than seating them against your own car.

Wireless control module. If your car has one. The module transfers together with its harness. Supplying a new one would not help: a new module needs re-flashing and pairing, which is more work than moving yours across.

Volkswagen builds many electrical versions of these seats across model years and trim levels: the sensor modules, the heating connector and the wireless control module all vary by version. No seat can ship pre-fitted for every combination, so the version-specific parts remain with your car by design. The frame underneath is a brand-new genuine VW OEM folding frame, purchased new, never a salvaged part. The transfer exists because the platform has many electrical versions, not because anything about the seat is non-standard.

The more options your car left the factory with, the more there is to transfer. None of it requires special skills, only care.

How Installation Works

1. Remove the factory seats.
2. Transfer the connectors and modules as described above. No cutting, no splicing.
3. Mount the new seats. The car's electrical system sees the same connections it always had.
4. Confirm the retained functions before final refit.

Transit runs continuously. Only dispatch and delivery follow the business calendar.

Packaging: Seats ship in wooden crates. Final delivery is made by liftgate truck, and the carrier handles unloading. Customers do not need to provide a forklift. Given its weight, the crate is difficult to reposition once delivered, and we recommend entering the workshop address if installation will be performed there.

Transit estimates cover the journey itself. Booking a vessel or a flight normally takes a few days and customs clearance is routine on the vast majority of shipments. Neither is folded into the estimate.

Import duties and taxes: Duties, import taxes, and customs clearance are covered with no additional fee.
