What Our Craft Marks Mean
Mold tooling is the form a carbon part is shaped and cured in. In prepreg, or dry carbon, manufacturing it is one of the most critical steps of all: the tooling decides the part's geometry, and with it, how the part fits the car.
Some of our parts carry small marks next to the product title. Each one stands for a specific manufacturing standard, verified for that exact part. A part can carry one mark or several. The more it carries, the higher its build specification.
Steel Mold Tooling
This mark certifies that the part is molded on precision-machined steel tooling, the top tier of mold making. Steel molds cost many times more than aluminum and are rare in the aftermarket, but they hold their shape through production runs and repeated cure cycles far better than any other tooling. What that means for you: stable tolerances, tight panel gaps, and a part that fits the way the factory piece did.

1:1 Molded
This mark certifies that the tooling geometry comes from a real factory part, not from guesswork. We do not design the panel from scratch or model it by eye. An original part is captured with high-precision scanning equipment, and the mold is machined to match it exactly: every curve, edge and mounting point. The result is not a part that merely looks like the original. It is a complete replication of it, produced with the same process from start to finish. What that means for you: the part installs the way the original does.
Prepreg Carbon
This mark certifies prepreg construction, also known as dry carbon. The cloth carries a precise, pre-measured amount of resin and is cured under heat and pressure in an autoclave, the same process used for OEM and motorsport carbon parts. What that means for you: a dense, consistent laminate, a tight weave, and an excellent strength to weight ratio.
Aluminum Mold Tooling
This mark certifies CNC-machined aluminum tooling. Aluminum molds are the industry standard for quality prepreg carbon: machined from solid metal, far more stable than the resin molds most budget parts come from. The honest trade-off: aluminum is softer than steel, so over long production runs it wears sooner. Which is why we retire and replace our aluminum tooling on a regular cycle, before wear ever reaches the parts. We would rather tell you which tooling your part comes from, at every price, than let you guess.
