Replacement Type: Factory Cup Holder Swap

Replaces your factory cup holder with a direct swap. The factory unit is secured by clips: use the included trim pry tool to release them, lift the unit out, fit this one in its place, and plug into the existing console harness. No cutting, no new wiring. About 30 minutes for an experienced installer.

• 11-colour ambient sync: locks onto your factory ambient light colour and brightness via the original lighting circuit
• Dual retractable Type-C fast-charge cables: two built-in telescopic Type-C cables extend when you need them and retract flush when you do not; 27W fast-charge; no loose cables in the console
• Exact-fit replacement: slots directly into the factory cup holder cavity; lid operation fully preserved on compatible trims
• No wiring modification: connects through the existing console harness; about 30 minutes for an experienced installer

Works with or without factory wireless charging: installation and function are identical either way.

Plug-In Type: Non-Invasive Insert

Slides directly into your existing factory cup holder opening: no removal, no disassembly required. Powered via the cigarette lighter. Colour sync is achieved by fitting a compact wireless transmitter to the footwell light circuit, which reads your current ambient colour and transmits it wirelessly to the cup holder.

• Zero modification: inserts directly into the factory cup holder; nothing is cut or removed
• Cigarette lighter powered: plugs into the cigarette lighter socket; no hardwiring required
• 11-colour ambient sync: wireless footwell light transmitter reads and relays the current ambient colour signal
• Integrated fast-charge hub: Type-C and USB-A ports with 45W fast-charge
• Simple install: plug in the power cable, clip the transmitter to the footwell light, done
• Note: the insert sits slightly proud of the cup holder rim, which may make the centre console lid tighter to close

Which Plug-In variant do I need?

The two variants differ slightly in fit to match different centre console floor panels:

• Plug-In: Vehicle With Wireless Charging: select this if your centre console has the OEM wireless charging pad fitted in the base
• Plug-In: Vehicle Without Wireless Charging: select this if your centre console does not have the OEM wireless charging pad

Not sure which you have? Check for a flat charging panel in the base of your centre console between the two cup holders.

Note: Both installation types require your vehicle to have the factory-fitted colour ambient lighting option selected. Without it, the light will display a fixed orange colour only.

Before You Order: Installation Expectations

• Most installations involve removing trim around the centre console and connecting to the factory wiring. The trim clips are tight, and panels can be marked if they are not removed with care.
• We recommend an installer with experience in BMW interior trim and wiring. If you are fitting it yourself, please follow an installation tutorial and allow extra time.
• Any install time we quote refers to an experienced installer. A first-time install usually takes longer.
• CarbonXtreme does not cover installation, labour or shop charges. Please check the expected time, difficulty and cost with your installer before ordering.
